Preparing Your Home to Sell

Preparing your home for sale doesn't have to be a monumental experience. Simple steps, a little at a time, will turn the mountain into a molehill. The following list will help.

  • Start by throwing away, selling or donating unused items.

  • Then begin boxing up items rarely used but you want to keep.

  • Organize closets and pantries. Pack up seasonal clothes to make closets look roomy.

  • Paint dirty or scuffed walls. Paint personalized colors neutral.

  • Change out dim or burnt light bulbs. You want your rooms to be bright.

  • You can replace plate glass bathroom mirrors with framed mirrors cheaply and get a lot of visual bang for your buck.

  • Changing outdated light and plumbing fixtures is an inexpensive way to give your home a totally different feel.

  • Change out air filters.

  • Spruce up outside with mulch and light plantings as needed.

  • Clean your home thoroughly
